Adobe and Microsoft are issuing critical updates on Tuesday 13th October.

Adobe has issued an alert regarding a critical vulnerability in Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.1.3 and earlier (CVE-2009-3459) on Windows, Macintosh and UNIX. They will be issuing a patch on Tuesday as part of their quarterly security updates.

There is already malware on the Internet that exploits this vulnerability. It is a Trojan called Troj_Pidief.Uo. It is hidden in a PDF file infected with a JavaScript agent, Js_Agent.Dt. This trojan installs a piece of software that allows criminals to take control of the infected computer.

"Attacks on Adobe reader and Flash have been increasing so it is important that everyone gets the Tuesday updates and install them. The Microsoft updates will not fix the Adobe issue" says Jennifer Perry, managing director, www.e-victims.org

Microsoft updates will provide patches for 8 critical and 5 important vulnerabilities.
