fridge freezer

hi i was wondering if someone can tell me my rights on a fitted kitchen appliance (intergrated fridge freezer) that was installed july 2006,its just stopped working the freezer compartment defrosted all food was thrown out i have tried the company manufacturer to see if they could offer me advice only to be told i had a 2 yr guarentee that has expired and that they want £142 from me for a engeneer to make a home call out is this right i also tried the kitchen fitters themselfs to be told they dont fix appiances please help thanks heather ps i couldnt even talk to a engineer

the fridge freezer was intalled with the kitchen so do i go direct to the kitchen company i did call them and they said they dont carry out repairs that its down to the warantee that has ran out thankyou for your help
