Today I had a phone call from a company calling themselves Cosumer Direct UK, offering to write off all of my Payment Protection Insurance charges.
Sounded legit, except why would Cosumer Direct, a government backed agency be calling me, telling about legislation that I could use to write off my Payment Protection Insurance.
The caller didn't even ask to speak to me, call me by my name or check that it was ok to talk, he just launched into a lengthy introduction.
In reality it is 99.99% unlikely. Therefore I advised the caller I do not have PPI insurance and the call was ended fairly quickly.
The number that I was called from (yesterday - I missed the call) and today when I answered was 01792469114. A quick search of this number on google suggests that it calls people frequently and keeps calling even after you say no.
I just thought it would be appropriate to warn people to be on their guard.
