I purchased a camera approx 4 months ago from Tesco Direct and have mis placed the packaging and accessories which include data cable and instruction CD which came with the camera.
Tesco have refused a refund even thought I have proof of purchase because of this.

Can they do this.

:)

They can. However, is it reasonable. It is reasonable for them to expect all the accessories, but not the manual and the packaging. Alternative remedies could be a partial refund taking into account your usage and the loss of the accessories, a repair or a replacement of the camera only.
