Ebay - who has to pay for the delivery?

Sorry in advance as I have a feeling this may have already been discussed? Anyway, I won an item and after about ten days emailed the seller asking where it was. He told me it had gone to a courier and that they had notified him they had already tried to deliver it twice. I had no card dropped through my letterbox as far as I'm aware. Seller told me I had to phone courier asap as if it was returned back to seller I would have to pay to get it sent out again. After leaving about four or five unanswered messages over five days I finally got through. Was told they still had the item and would deliver it today. Surprise surprise it isn't here. I rang after waiting in all day and was told that in fact it had been sent back to the seller. When I queried the fact that I had been told it was there only yesterday and had arranged a delivery the error was blamed on new staff. So, am I entitled to ask for a refund from the seller rather than pay for the delivery or am I entitled to ask for a delivery and not have to pay for it? Sorry for long ramble. Thanks.

Thanks for this. I did pay for it through paypal. But what should I do if they say they will send it out to me but that I have to pay for the delivery (on top of what the original quote was for P & P). Should I refuse and still go down the route of non delivery?

Hi,
I have never had to do that so I am unsure, have you still been able to contact the seller? if so just explain that it was not your fault as you did not have any contact to arrange delivery and that you do not want to pay again for delivery, if they say you have to I would then just let them know you are not prepared to do that and follow the non delivery route
hope that helps , regards, deb

I have been in contact with the seller via email (through ebay) and they have told me that they are in contact with the courier and are trying to sort it out. I think that was two days ago (maybe less) and I haven't heard anything back. I will get in touch with them again tomorrow. First time I have had trouble with ebay but it is horrible when it doesn't go according to plan.

I have now opened a case with ebay and asked for a refund. It's the silence from the seller that is deafening and I would rather not deal with them. Oh well. I will have to look elsewhere for some lovely shelves. Any ideas anyone?

Two weeks ago I made a claim direct to PayPal for non-delivery of goods, and have received the money refunded to my account and I've transferred it to my bank account.

I was very impressed with the service. I hope you get your money back quickly.

Are there any auction's that specialise in furniture near you? or any second hand shops - British Heart Foundation sometimes do furniture shops, and on the whole, the products are excellent and fairly cheap too.

I didn't know that about The British Heart Foundation. Definitely worth doing some research and finding out where the nearest is. Thanks.
