Discontinued spare parts and my rights??

I am in need of a new facia panel for my oven as the lettering has faded off the old panel after having the oven for only 18 months. Problem is, the manufacturer has discontinued the spare part and i can't get hold of a new one. I thought manufacturers had to hold spares for 3 years from discontinuing products??? Where do I stand??

Hi Ben,

There is nothing in law that says that manufacturers have to hold spare. Retailers may have contracts with manufacturers that require them to do this though. If the problem has occurred through normal usage you may be able to take your complaint to the retailer.
