Help!!

I purchased a pair of boots wore them in the car to pick up a friend and then after returning noticed scratches on the back of the boots. I am unaware if they were there at time of purchase. The boots were sent back for investigation and after a visit to Qulaity control they were returned to me with no refund. What are my rights? I am aware of the 6 month rule but the customer services Dept do not seem to care!
