Visiting a .co.uk site is much safer than vising a .cm or .com according to McAfee's third annual "Mapping the Mal Web" report. This reports looks at riskiest and safest domains across the globe.

The west coast of Africa nation Cameroon worst the riskiest domain .cm this year with 36.7 percent of its sites posing a security risk. McAfee said, cybercrooks like to use that domain to set up typo-squatted sites to hit you with malware because it is close to .com. The UK domain .co.uk came in the middle of the risk table at 55th.

The five TLDs with the greatest risky registrations are:

.CM (Cameroon) with a weighted risk of 36.7%
.COM (Commercial) with a weighted risk of 32.2%
.CN (People’s Republic of China) with a weighted risk of 23.4%
.WS (Samoa) with a weighted risk of 17.8%
.INFO (Information) with a weighted risk of 15.8%

Romania (.RO) was the riskiest TLD for malware downloads, with 21.0% of domains with downloads testing risky for those files.
