Faulty Aspire One

I bought an Acer Aspire One Netbook 16 months ago.

I've only ever used in it the house, it hasn't been dropped or maltreated in any way (it still looks like new).

I've only downloaded software made available by Acer and I've carried out updates when requested.

It's now stopped working. Won't boot and won't reload the operating software supplied on disk.

I think it's likely the SSD has died.

It's out of it's 12 month warranty but Dixons (the retailer) tell me any repair would be chargeable (through PC World).

I'm fairly certain that I'm covered under the Sales of goods Act (which of course Dixons dispute), but can't find anywhere that states an reasonable life time for such a product.

Can anyone help please.
