Is RAC inspection good value?

I bought a second hand car recently, the garage did give me some warranty but I still paid a few hundred for RAC to come and inspect it. In the end, I think the RAC inspection was a wast of money.

Don't know if anyone think having a 3rd party verification like I did with RAC was a good idea or not.

Hey Temi, I guess you thought it was a waste of money because the car was OK. What if it hadn't been OK. It is a small price to pay for peace of mind and bear in mind that those warranties often have a lot of exclusions.

Aa/rac Inspection Value

Whether you pay the £ to have an AA or RAC chap come out to look at the car is a judgement call. I agree with James' comment above in that it is a great peace of mind.

Things to consider probably are:

The reputation of the dealership;
Any warranty given with the car;
The type, age and condition of the car.

The last time I bought a second-hand car, I asked the dealership to MoT it before they sold it. They agreed straight away and I never had a day's trouble out of it.

Had they been reluctant, I might have changed my mind about buying it...or at least called in the RAC or AA to have a look at it for you.
