cancelled flight on first day of package holiday

My outward flight was cancelled after I had checked in and was standing at the boarding gate. The airline failed to provide an alternative flight. My travel agent (with whom I had booked the package holiday and already fully paid) sold me an alternative flight 2 days later and required me to pay for this upfront. My holiday insurance does not cover this sort of cancellation.
This has cost me:
-additional flights and transfers
-additional return journey to the airport from home
-two nights in a hotel which I am unable to have
-two nights kennelling of my pets which is not longer required
-two days less of a package holiday which was originally 7 days.

Which of the above can I claim?
Do I claim it from the airline or the travel agent?
Will the credit card company who I purchased the holiday with help?

Please reply with any advice! Thank you

Do you mind telling me why your holiday insurance doesn't cover this kind of cancellation? Is that an option you took or is this normal for most travel insurance? With regards you, why don't you talk first off to the credit card company and see what they have to say. They have probably heard it all before and so will be able to advise.
