Sale of Goods Act - handbag ruined

Posted 10th April 2012 at 12:45 PM by Lainy

Can anyone advise?

I bought a genuine designer bag less than 4 weeks ago and have used it probably on 10 occassions. I paid 535 and it was not a second. It is a pale leather and has become filthy with marks even though I have never mistreated it - just worn it on my shoulder. The straps are unmarked where I hold it but is badly discoloured where it has brushed my hip. At the time of sale I was not advised to treat it with any protector or given any information on looking after it. I took it back & the shop says it must be accepted that such a pale leather would absorb clothes colours. It is being sent to manufacturer to check for faulty quality but that is not the case in their view. I fear I will not get anywhere with my complaint and wondered how to proceed next. I paid by credit card.
