Default Breach of Contract or Not?!

If a car was bought from a main dealership and then that dealership is taken over by a new dealership, does your contract remain with the original dealership or does responsibility pass to the new dealership? Can the new dealership be held in breach of contract? Would really appreciate any comments relating to this....am facing a tough uphill struggle on this one!

Hi Karen and welcome to the forum.

What legal entity was the contract with. I assume a specific ltd company - it is possible for these to change hands and be bought by a new dealership.

Hope this helps,

Tony

Hi Tony

Thanks for your reply and your welcome to the forum!

My problem is that I bought the vehicle with one dealer and want to pursue them for breach of contract but as that dealer is no longer in existence as it has been bought out by another dealership (same car type) so I am concerned I will not be able to pursue the 'new' dealership with a breach of contract as the contract was not really with them...but, as they took over the business, I need clarification as to whether I can still pursue my breach of contract claim.
If not, maybe I can pursue the actual vehicle company ie Land Rover?
All very irritating!
