Default Credit Crunch hits Mars

It seems that the economic downturn is not only affecting everybody on the face of the planet... but beyond also...

BBC NEWS | Science & Environment | Europe delays its ExoMars mission

It seems that this credit crunch is permeating all walks of life in a more marked way than ever before. Although I can understand the decision to postpone given the enormous cost, and the lack of immediate gain or reward for that money spent.

If you take a long term view then mankind has no choice about habitating other planets. The sun won't burn forever and the way we are going the planet will be uninhabitable much sooner than that.

Default You are right.

I think in time it will happen. However we have to take the right sized steps... Setting up a colony on Mars will be a pipedream for a long time yet. We need to first establish a base in orbit and then the moon in order to get deeper into space and explore the planets. It's breaking free of the Earths gravity which is the really expensive part at the moment.
