OFT wins injunction against Dutch mail order company

Thought this might be of interest to those who are fed up getting letters and emails saying that you've won a competition you never entered. The Office of Fair Trading has won an injunction in a Dutch court preventing a mail order company from sending misleading prize draw mailings to UK consumers.

The OFT is calling it a landmark ruling. The company concerned has to place an apology in two national UK newspapers and will incur a 1,000,000 Euro fine if they repeat the offence. Full story is on the OFT website.

This has to be a good thing - it's amazing how many people are taken in by dodgy competitions.
