Default New consumer body announced

The Westminster government has announced plans to merge Energywatch, the National Consumer Council and Postwatch. The new body will be called Consumer Focus and will campaign on behalf of consumers, though the existing Consumer Direct service will continue to provide advice. Apparently it will also be able to investigate complaints, which the existing bodies can't do.

Sounds like a good thing, although potentially issues relating to energy or the postal service could get less attention once they're subsumed into a parent body.
