Default Cost of shoes varying just because of size?

Hello I am trying to find out if the exact same pair of shoes can cost more in a different size? A pair of size 6 ladies shoes bought from Amazon UK, which when contacted to exchange for a size 6.5, the bigger pair of shoes actually cost 12 more than the half size smaller. (This is excluding any shipping costs just the actual shoe price). Is this legal? Thanks for any advice. Ali
