Default clio lasted 2wks from private seller - help!

Hi.

We bought a renault clio privately mid november (02 plate, 85k, FSH)... it was checked by an AA inspector, passed an MOT and after about 2 weeks, 6 journeys - it's facing a £1000 bill in the garage.

The garage are still not sure exactly what is wrong despite much work and fixing what they thought was wrong, they still haven't fixed it totally.

So far - it was leaking diesel, then the auxillary belt shredded and altered the cambelt timing so they dismantled the engine thinking the pistons were shot (they're not) - now ? problems with fuel supply & the fuel pump.

from what I understand there is probably no recourse for any of this

am I right?

would be so grateful for any input
being 3k down is something we can't afford and now no car
