Default Problem with 04 Mondeo what are my options?

I bought a second hand mondeo diesel from a dealer at the end of Nov 09, I paid just over £4k for it and it was a 04 plate with 80k miles.

In the middle of Dec I was having problems selecting reverse when the car was cold so I spoke to the dealer who told me to take it into their garage which I duly did. They couldn't find the problem so they suggested I leave it with them one night but not until the new year as they were short staffed.

Cut to last Friday, I arranged to leave the car and yesterday they told me it needs a new clutch, after leaving a couple of messages with the dealer yesterday, he emailed me today to say that his offer to me is for me to pay for the new clutch ex VAT and he will pick up the labour charges, what are my options?

I would expect them to pay for the clutch too as you have only has it a couple of months and paid quite a lot for it.
