Default Fiat Ducato modifications

I recently had to replace the throttle valve on my Fiat Ducato based motorhome. The replacement cost over 400 and would not work when fitted. It turns out that Fiat had modified the part adding a new wiring loom. This cost an additional 200 that I had to pay.
My contention is that I should not have to pay the additional cost of the modification and that Fiat should have recalled the motorhome for the modification to be made.
Fiat won't budge!
