Default Garage certification?

I wonder if there is a way of finding out if a garage is high quality, is there a similar rating to the hotels star system for garages?

Default Approved Garage Schemes

Great question, some Trading Standards Offices have approved garage schemes - Fife Trading Standards - Approved Garage Scheme

However, I don't think they are very widespread. The AA has approved autocentres Car Servicing : services, MOT tests and repairs - The AA, but do we trust the AA now they are owned by venture capatilists. They seem to be diluting the brand and using it to sell anything.

I hope this helps

Tony

I think instinct will go a long way to telling whether a garage is reliable or not.

However, a garage that is thriving and busy will tend to indicate repeat custom - and therefore reliability. One that is flash, but empty, would send me a "I'm going to get ripped off" message and one that is empty and ramshackle suggests "useless!".
