How long should a manufacturer makes parts available

I bought a dishwasher 4 yrs ago, and a part is broke on it, and I have been told it is no longer available, the store have offered me £51 towards new dishwasher, but I do not see why I should go and buy a new dishwasher after just 4 yrs. surely it should be fit for purpose for longer than this and parts should be available for longer? On the stores website they say a good dishwasher should last about 15yrs???.?.?.? HELP

Not sure about 15 years but certainly more than 4, try Domestic Appliance | UK Whitegoods | Spares | Forums | Spare Part the engineers are pretty helpful and may know of somewhere they can get the parts even if the manufacturer no longer has them available.
