The economic crisis hasn’t got to Which?, in fact they have just announced that for the fourth year their paid subscription services have risen.
Up until 30th June 2009, Which? have made an extra 27,000 sales and boasts over 1.1 million subscribers.
They didn’t quite stop there, along with their increase in sales of the Which? print magazine and copies of the ever popular Which? Computing magazine their website located at www.which.co.uk also had an 11% increase in visits.
The company now has over 216,000 members that pay to gain access to their premium content, such as the latest product reviews to hit the market.
The renowned legal service that Which? provides to consumers also reported a 10% increase in calls. The telephone advice line provided by by qualified lawyers gives subscribers the chance to gain access to unlimited advice about consumer rights and the employment law.
The Which? organisation are perhaps unique in the fact that they choosing not to carry advertising, although this makes their magazine issues less profitable.
It was only recently that the consumer organisation finally decided to offer selected issues of the magazine for sale at Sainsbury’s. Prior to this exclusive deal with Sainsbury’s, copies of the magazine were only available to members whom subscribed. The decision to do this has led to a massive increase in sales of the magazine, and Which? have sold over 70,000 copies of their Car magazine, along with an estimated 13,000 copies of Which?
The marketing brains at Which? have clearly been in overdrive, they have also launched the companies very first iphone application, that will allow shoppers to get on the spot information about products, whilst they are out on the high street.
