i have recently purchased a car from auction a couple of days ago and paid £2400 for it including the auction fees, it is a renault clio 172 sport when driving it away i noticed some major faults the steering is way off centre the engine is knocking against the body the gear box crunches when putting it into second gear and the front left wheel is bent inwards, i went to my local ats garage and they said it would cost me over £500 to fix not including the gear box this would be another £300 i paid for the car on my credit card and need some advise as to where i stand with my rights in regards to taking it back or claiming money back as i am not satisfied with the purchase.

Hi, sorry to hear about your situation. Unfortunately auction houses are not covered by the sale of goods act. Unless the vehicle was sold as "No Major Mechanical Faults", you have no comeback. Auctions are dangerous places for private buyers.
