More than 1,500 people who suffered severe skin reactions after sitting on toxic sofas are to share in £20 million compensation from some of the biggest names on the High Street. It follows a court case - sparked by a Watchdog investigation two years ago.

Watchdog revealed that the cause of the agonising rashes were small sachets of a chemical called DMF, hidden inside the Chinese-made sofas, which were sold in stores including Argos, Homebase and Walmsleys.

Sadly, hundreds of customers of the now defunct Land of Leather chain won't get compensation. However, next month the High Court is expected to order payouts to another two thousand people who bought those sofas elsewhere...
