We are a small business who were "duped" into taking out a 3 x year service contract with a hygiene service provider.

Initial discussions held were for a 1 x year contract, but after signing and reading the small print we had entered ourselves into 3 x years.

The service provider advised we would be contacted 4 x months before expiry of the 3 x year contract to ensure that we wished to continue.

No contact was made and on making enquiries with them we have been advised our account has been "rolled" over into another 3 x year contract. We were not asked if we wished to continue with the contract and have not signed a further contract for 3 x years.

The original paperwork does not stipulate we will be "rolled" over automatically. We have complained bitterly and advised we wish to give 1 x months notice of our wish to terminate the contract. The provider has responded they will take legal action to persue us for a balancing payment of 3 x further years.

Can the provider take this action? Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can cancel this contract without encountering huge termination costs?
