Uncaring After Sales

My brother in law bought a second hand Range Rover in part exchange from a dealership and arranged to have it delivered and the part exchange taken away. However he has a heart attack and died suddenly about 12 hours later.

That day his wife phoned the garage to tell them and they were sympathetic and told her not to worry they would take the car back.

Expecting the sale to be uncoupled she thought they were considerate. However after a week she phoned them to find out the details and was told they would buy the car back with a loss of over £5000 to the widow.

She was shocked and needed a few days to think it over, however she wanted the car away so agreed and asked them to pick it up which they agreed to do.

When they didnt come for the car, she made numerous calls asking when they would pick it up and completely ignored her requests.

After 6 weeks she gave up and a friendly garage took the car away and sold it on her behalf. Resulting in a loss of £5000. Any reasonable Dealership would have, in the circumstanses, dealt with the sensitivity of the matter better.

Question is, does the wife have rights to reclaim her monetary losses from the Dealer, when her husband died within 24 hours of the sale?

Thanks in anticipation, sydthekid
