Online giant Amazon has announced it is trying to be a little "greener" and reduce the amount of packaging sent with it's items.

Amazon to cut down on packaging

I found this particularly amusing as yesterday my dad received delivery of a small wall clock from an Amazon trader, and it came in a box that could have quite easily housed Big Ben, as well as three asylum seekers.

I think around this time of the year we soon realise how much unnecessary packaging comes with products. It seems inevitable that come December 27th, the local rubbish tips are packed to the brim with people throwing away the four and half tonnes of packaging that their families Christmas presents came wrapped in. I tend to spend most Christmas days nowadays with a pair of scissors or knife, trying to hack my way into my childrens latest "Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus" toy. Anything that cuts down on this monumental waste can only be a good thing.
