I have had to cancel a hotel booking, due to a family emergency. I have given 8 days notice, but I am informed that the cancellation charge for my stay is 100%. This seems rather unusual. This is stated on their website, although it is very hard to find indeed.

Do I have any statutory rights, or is it simply a case of caveat emptor?
