We had our new leather sofa delivered yesterday and unfortunately the leather on the 2 seater is scuffed in several places so that the top surface is totally removed. There is a scratch on the front left of the 3 seater not enough fibre in the arm of the sofa and marks on the back of the sofa. The leather on the seats has a totally different feel and appearance to the leather on the rest of the sofa. The leather at the bottom feels alot like plastic and it is supposed to be 100% leather.Csl have been informed of this and my husband was rather disappointed and now wants toclaim a full refund for the sofa. My argument is that we paid in excess of £2000 pounds for a sofa that is damaged and they have offered a repair but then sofa is not as new. Are we entitled to a full refund. They are sending somone out to look at the sofa on friday but we have informed them that we want a full refund to which they have said they need to come and look at the sofa. How do we proceed with this.

Yes you are entitled to a refund, there is no doubt that the faults existed from new you are therefore entitled to reject the sofa under the Sale of Goods Act, phone them back and tell them to bring a big van and two burly blokes when they come on Friday.

You are also entitled to a reasonable time to inspect the item after delivery before you are deemed to have accepted it.

Incidentally if they try to tell you the sofa has been custom made for you, it hasn't

We have both made it quite clear that we want a refund and nothing else is acceptable but they still insist they need to come and inspect the sofa. Letters are now ready to post to Csl and trading standards informing them we want a refund which are going to be posted byrecordeddelivery tomorrow.

So is it a loan from the bank or finance from them, coz obviously if its a loan from the bank you won't be paying them anything else and will be seeking your deposit back!

Then do you know what I'd do, avoid 'sofa specialists' like the plague and have a look at a department store, always buy my suites from the co-op, never had a problem
