Hi my name is jugjeevan and I am studying Product design at A-level and I am gather research on my A2 project which is to create an innovative storage solution. I would like to know off you what mechanisms and ideas you have that I could research and design and what factors influence your decisions when buying a storage unit.

Assuming you mean a storage unit for the house rather than the garage I usually balance cost, quality and design. I like Ikea stuff as its reasonable quality, price and they tend to have some designs I like. However, I will spend more for solid oak or something that looks good and I know will last and won't look dated in a few years...

I would say that it is all about proportions. Chunky furniture is my thing. Also, a simple design that looks clean goes a long way.

I think, as Tony said it is vital to get something that looks good! There is very limited point in having something looked dated!
