Can anyone help me with this problem?? We ordered a few 0845 numbers from Telecoms World PLC in August 2008. After choosing our numbers online we went through checkout with no hitches and received an email confirmation. That was it.... A few weeks later we advertised a few of these numbers as part of our business and consequently realised the telephone had gone very quiet since. After checking the numbers on our advert we realised that 2 of the 5 advertised were not coming through to our land line. To cut a long story short, Telecoms World PLC had substituted 2 of our numbers and according to them "had informed us over the telephone and sent us an updated confirmation via email". I am disputing this - I would never had spent over £4000 on advertising someone else's number I can assure you. Anyway, nearly six months later I am no further to getting an explanation or any proof that they actually told me about the substitution of these numbers. It has now reached deadlock and I have submitted a compensation claim to them in January 2009 and have not received any acknowledgment to this claim and they do not respond to my letters or emails. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Help for your 0845 numbers

Hi. Sorry to hear about your issues. I work for a company called City Numbers who specialise in providing 0845 numbers along with 0800 numbers to UK companies. If you are getting nowhere you could always try the UK ombudsmen for telecoms Otelo. If you raise a dispute with them the company will have to adhere to a strict complaint procedure and you may find this speeds up your process. I don't think you will be able to get your numbers that you originally ordered as if they are already in use it will be almost impossible to get ownership. If you would like to talk about this further please feel free to call us or drop us a line.

Our website is citynumbers.co.uk or you can call us on 08453 666 555.

Hope this helps

This happens all the time, before you get/buy a telephone number ask to see the Ofcom certificate. This means that the person trying to supply you actually has the right to that number.

For free 0800 numbers I recommmend numbergroup.com, cheapest call rates on all kinds of different numbers.

hi

I'm really surprised by your experience, I ported my 0800 number to Telecoms World plc, from BT. The service has always been excellent, and a lot cheaper than the rates i paid with BT. I receive my bill on the 10th of each month, and payment is on the 24th of each month by D/D. the staff are always very helpful and I recommend their services

Hi Carys, we had a similar experience with this bunch of shysters. We paid for an 0845 number which we never received. Then a year later they tried to charge us again and when we refused the charge they later issued a 100 pound disconnection fee. This is bad especially when you consider that 0845 numbers are free from most other providers and we only paid to ensure we actually had a reliable company! They pretended we hadn't ever notified them and tried to claim we had signed up to terms different to those actually signed up. My advice to anyone is STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS

Telecoms World RIP OFF

We have (well had as of today) an 0871 number with Telecomsworld and been using it for maybe 5 years maybe longer. I called them to find out how much commission we have received since setting it up.... Guess what the answer was?

Yes you guessed it a big fat NOTHING.

I was then told they only pay out when you get to £50 and my account balance was 0.97p

5 years = 0.97p!

Was told someone would call me back within an hour - Guess what - No one did.

My advice would be AVOID - AVOID - AVOID.

Easy to sign up a nightmare then on in.
