Are West Country trains better than average.

I have read many stories about poor rail service in many areas of UK, but during the last two years of using rail travel frequently I have little to complain about. They have been reasonably on time, reasonably clean and convenient. Maybe things are getting better after all!

Let me put this politely (I live in the South West)....

Every time I get the mad idea to take public transport, including trains, I regret the decision.

Maybe I'm just unlucky...

I guess that I have been lucky. I'm not saying that the service is good, by any means. The trains are old, bumpy, and not of a reasonable quality for the cost charged.
However, the trains have been on time - more or less - for me, none that I have caught have been so full that I had to stand, or I was forced off the train.
The trains have a great potential, which should be used. It is a pity that it is not.
