Not that new a product, perhaps, but one I think is good enough that it warrants some praise here. I'm using it as a desktop external hard drive so I can keep my OS internal drive as empty as possible. It is ideal for such purposes as it's quiet, incredibly easy to set up and use and so far (I've had it maybe 8-10 months) utterly reliable. I've never lost any data, transferring speeds are quick, it never fails to do what it is meant to.

A couple of drawbacks - it has no fan, it radiates heat out through the case so it can get warm. Not dangerously so, but you won't want to leave a pile of letters and bills on top of it. Also, the USB cable coming out of the back does not respond well to cats pulling at it.

I'm looking to get an external hard drive as i have alot of media files (movies and music) and am using most of my space up. Would this do the trick? How big a hard drive would i need - i have about 100 movies and 3,000 songs - built up over the past few years!
