Deliberate Mistake?

I just saw a rather lovely looking quilt advertised in a magazine. The quilt was advertised as being £70 which I thought was quite reasonable. Phoning the number to buy one I was told there had been a misprint and, in fact, the quilt was £140. Do you think they did this deliberately hoping that by the time people got on the phone they were halfway to a purchase?

Do you believe in conspiracy theories?

I'm just kidding. I'm pretty sure some of the time they do indeed quote a cheaper price to get people interested, though I would have thought it being half of the real price is an honest mistake. As a selling/marketing strategy it's a bit of a leap to expect people to pay twice what you've quoted, though how they made such a bad mistake I can't imagine.

Ok, I'm just being cynical. You have brought me back to earth and made me feel ashamed of myself for being a doubting Thomas. I will give more leeway from now on to typos, etc.
