Hi there, i have reciently bought asecond hand car through a trade dealer, advertised on AUTO TRADER. I had a good look at the vehicle and aggreed to purchace it. The dealer told my that they could not offer me a waranty on the vehicle, and assured me that it would not need anything done to it. Since having it for a couple of days, there are a couple of things that i have now noticed on it eg tyre needs replacing on the rear. Someone that i was chatting to about this said that they belive all cars are legaly sold with a minium of 3 months waranty, which the dealer has to agree to.

Im now confussed, could someone out there please clarify this for me.

Thanks

Dave

There is no legal requirement to provide a warranty. These are in addition to your statutory rights anyway.

The last time I bought a car I tried to negotiate to have it without a car warranty to reduce the price. The dealer was not keen as it is in effect an insurance policy for them too ; )
