Pubs Closing

I heard on the news this evening that many pubs are facing closure due to "beer tax" and the competition for cheaper alcohol from supermarkets and discount stores. It is estimated that up to 30 pubs per week face closure or do close due to the high consumption of alcohol from these other sources.

Even though I don't get out much, I would hate the thought of not being able to go to the pub for a drink!!

Is rural and old traditional Britain on it's way out?

This does not surprise me I was out tonight in Manchester and it was very quiet, although the students are not back yet. However, I was talking to a taxi driver and he told me that things are really quiet for his industry... not good.
