Hi,
I have recently returned from a 2 week break in mexico, the next day the beach was closed off, as they were extending the beach. I received a note from the hotel stating this would last for 2-3 days, which i accepted. In fact it was closed for the entire 2 weeks i was there. I filled a complaint whilst i was there and have since complained to thomas cook upon my return, sending 10 photos of jcb diggers at the end of my sun lounger, plus numerous other letters from the hotel. I feel that i should be compensated for the work on the beach, I spent over £4000.00 with thomas cook and they are now just fobbing me off stating they cannot be held responsible for 3rd party works. Can i take them to a small claims for some sort of compensation??

I had this exact same problem when I came home from a holiday in Gran Canaria a couple of years a go. Well mine wasn't as bad. Basically we were told a beach was a certain distance away from the hotel, but that beach was actually closed, for the same reason as yours, so instead had to travel twice the distance and go down some very steep steps down a cliff to do so. I complained just out of priniciple, i mean me and my girlfriend are only 20 and 19, so don't really have a problem with it, but what if we were older and unable to go down these steep stairs or walk this distance? I was given the same fob off as you, it took a few weeks to get this reply as well, but I couldn't be bothered to persue it as it didn't hugely affect us.

I always thought the holiday provider had to inform you if their were changes made to details clearly listed in the details that could be a deciding factor in choosing that holiday, but obviously not, or they're just hoping people can't be bothered to persue them.

Unfortunately, I was in Florida many years ago and I'm not sure that my Florida travel experience can be a good recommendation. I travel a lot and have to plan my trips myself, so I find it very helpful to use information from websites about tourism and travel blogs. For example, if you are interested in learning about hotels in 30A Seaside Florida, then this article https://www.beachluxuryvacations.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-30a-hotels-on-floridas-most-scenic-beaches might be helpful for you. I know that information about local hotels on trusted online sources is often shared by people with experience in the tourism industry, so many travellers make decisions based on such specialists's reviews and get a good vacation in a new for them destination. Like as a rule, they aren't disappointed due to the hotel or restaurant that was chosen online and also they save a lot of money on the services of travel agencies.
