Although there are many firms offering to pursue the PPI claims it is quite simple to do it yourself.

A form can be downloaded from the internet and submitted by the customer.

There is no evidence (I believe) that the firms offering to do it get any higher payouts than DIYers.

Debtors retreat
You are quite right, their results will be no better but any claiment would be condisderably worse off, we have a number of cases on here complaining about PPI claims companies who don't only charge you commission on the percentage of the PPI they recover, but any outstanding amount of PPI that was in the original agreement, even after it is cancelled.

The form is here:

how to complain ? the first steps

All the banks accept this form.

No don't use a third party company!!! They take about 25-30% of fees! The process of claiming it yourself can be quite confusing, but you can get help... there's even an iphone/ipad app for it which is actually quite handy. It's called DIY PPI and it is £3.99 but the convenience it brings you and the step-by-step way it guides you through the process makes it much easier so you can keep 100% of the refund. Their website and apple store entry is below :)

You can find them at the Apple store if you search DIY PPI
