hi i bought a car of a trader, in less than 3 months, timing belt snapped. have done alot of research and these vehicles have a common fault of cambelt failure.

ive allready spoken to consumer direct and done what they have said, etc: that you need to write to trader, asking to repair or pay the bill.

traders solicitor has wrote to me saying trader doesnt have to pay me any money or pay the bill as they say car was sold running and was fit for purpose at the time. (solicitor aware of manufacturing fault). also they say car was used for 9000 miles in 3 months which is excessive. have told him sale of goods act still applies whether car was used for 9000 miles or not.

mileage was 80000 when it snapped and car was 7 years old. car manufacturers say its not due till every 10 years or 96000 miles.

spoke to consumer direct and they have said send him a letter stating you are going to take him to court if he doesnt pay.

allready done that and filed a claim online.

any opinions???
