What are my rights if a company changes it's name?

We have no mains drainage so had a domestic sewage treatment plant installed when we built our house 4years ago. We used a consultant to advise on the type of system and he installed and has serviced it.
The tank contains a pump for aeration.
The latest pump has also stopped working after less than 9 months.
It is the second replacement for the original pump which came as part of the system.
The company that supplied the treatment plant has now changed names but still trades under a similar name. They will not accept any responsibility. Neither will the manufacturer of the pump.
Including the original pump, which came with the tank, this will be the fourth pump we have had to install.
They must be designed to do the job and surely cannot be fit for purpose if they can't do the job they are designed for.
This is an expensive part as is having to have it installed by a specialist.
What rights do I have?

If you can gives us the names of the company we may be able to advise you better as it depends on the circumstances of the name change, if it is simply a name change it makes no difference to your rights, however if the first company has gone bankrupt and the new company set up with different owners (even tho they may be very closely related) it is a different matter.

The company used to be called Conder Solutions, it would appear they closed this company in 2008 and now trade selling the same line of products and business under the name of Conder Products.

Thanks

Neither of these companies have been dissolved, both are listed as active companies.

They are listed under different addresses, one in County Durham, the other in Scotland, both have previous names which bear no resemblance to the currrent ones listed here.

Have found out that Conder Environmental Solutions was acquired by Electrical and Pumping Services Ltd in October 2008. They are now part of the EPS group of companies which has 3 divisions, Conder Products, Conder Technical Solutions and Conder Pumping Solutions.

The comapny that supplied my tank in 2007 was Conder Solutions. This is now called Conder Products. They still trade from the same address in County Durham.

The tank was fitted in Oct 2007 and the original pump failed in Dec 2008. The first replacement pump lasted until April 2011. The second replacement pump lasted until Dec 2011 - less than 1year. I am now looking to fit a third replacement pump. (4 pumps in 4 years)

Conder accept no responsibility. The manufacturer of the pump Lowara, refer us back to Conder.

The company may have been taken over but all the replacement pumps have been purchased since the takeover so how can they use this as an excuse?

Surely the part must be fit for purpose? I understand that its job is to aerate the tank and that it runs 24/7 but that is what it is designed to do. I feel that we should be able to expect more than 9 months life out of such an expensive product from a company that claims " all Clereflo CT systems utilise the PROVEN submerged aerated filteration process" " Innovative design and build experience to strict quality standards to meet even the most demanding project requirements"

I am writing to their Operations Director but would be greatful for any advice to help me plead my case.
