This is a national disgrace... My friend, who tries to be as green as possible and support the railways whenever he can, has now reached the point where it is cheaper for him to fly from Manchester to Devon than it is take the train when he visits his parents.

If we had an exemplary rail service it would be easier to stomach, but the fact remains that it is diabolical at times.
