When you buy something from a shop you are entering into a legally binding contract. Therefore they don’t have to give you a refund simply because you have changed your mind. Only if one of your statutory rights is breached (i.e. that the item is damaged, of poor quality or not fit for purpose) do they have to give you your money back.
Shops will often tell you they will only give a refund on production of proof of purchase. Don’t be mislead into thinking this must be a till receipt. It can be a bank or credit card statement, although you may run into difficulties if it is for a different amount than that of the item you are trying to return.

I bought some leather yard boots in December and both boots have split above the heel after just two months. I took them back to the shop I bought them from but they said they needed to contact the manufacturing company. They sent a photo of my boots and the company has said that I haven’t looked after them. They are muddy but surely yard boots do get mucky? They have said they will not refund or replace. I paid £100 deposit to the blinds factory in west derby, Liverpool L13 8AA last Thursday and they were supposed to fit blinds yesterday and they said the blinds will be here tomorrow, but got a call saying its going to be two or three weeks now and I thew away the old ones so my windows are bare now so I want to knowow can I get my £100 deposit back
Bought a bed from Benson’s for Beds.On delivery day. Carriers stated they couldn’t get a 4′ bed in building How isn’t clear. Lift was out of order that day.So happened I found out from the store that carrier policy doesn’t deliver above 4Th floor without lift. I’m on 5th. I wasn’t informed at point of sale of this policy, or asked about floor position or lift access.Asked for full refund and was told there’d be a 20% cancellation fee.They said they’d arrange another delivery date with a private courier ????? Customer service denied floor policy. Shouldn’t I have been told of this policy at point of sale in event of lift not operating.
